Be Ready in Season and Out of Season........

2 Timothy 4 is an awesome chapter.  But it's a tough one for us to abide by.

V. 2 says this:  Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long suffering and teaching.

Be ready when your are not ready, be willing when you are not willing.  Be willing when you don't feel like it especially.  It's easy to talk Jesus in church.  But what about in the grocery store after you leave church or at the gas station before you get there??

And what's worse is that in V. 3-4 says this:
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

So people are not going to want to hear what you have to say because you have the truth and that means they have to be accountable to it.  Then it even gets worse.............In verse 5 the Lord tells us through all of this  "
But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."

It's tough these days to tell many people about Jesus who really don't want to hear it.  But we don't know one CRITICAL thing:  who it is that ..........."it is the power of God unto salvation for those who believe.............."

One out of 50 might get saved.  But all Glory be to Jesus for that one soul.

Then finally during that time when everyone abandons you just
remember these words spoken by the Apostle Paul at the end of 2 TImothy 4 in verses 16-17 -
At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be charged against them......But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion...."

Even when you think you are alone, YOU NEVER ARE!!  When Everyone else abandons you.........Jesus will give you comfort, love and strength.
